Works great even in a sports car 5
This is a great product. Works just as described. I have a Tomtom One XL and a Mercedes SLK. I have read previous reviews saying that this product doesn't work well with either. I have had no problems. My dash and windshield are very slanted & it makes it hard for the Tomtom to mount on the window without having to put a cloth or something under it to stabilize it. This product just sits on the dash & doesn't move. The person who said it slides off the dash must have been trying to put it near the cup holder at the front of the dash. If you put it nearer the window & not on top of the speaker (where the cupholder is) it just does its job. It makes it easy to stow away & make changes to your route by just picking it up. No more little circles on the window & fighting to get it just right on the windshield. I just bought my daughter a GPS for Christmas & bought her this little gem as well. I give it 5 stars.

Works Perfectly! 5
My GPS hasn't moved in weeks! The grip on this thing is awesome. Even when I take a corner at twice the recommended speed, the GPS unit stays put. Very easy to use; no instructions required.

Nice with a couple of glitches4
The Garmin is a really great product, that gives fantastic directions as one would expect. There are a couple of small glitches. One, it pronounces Dr. as "doctor" instead of "drive." That's actually amusing more than anything.

A bit more annoying is that it is always optimistic when estimating arrival time if there are any lights. I'm not even talking about traffice, just normal stop lights. You can usually add 5-10 minutes to the estimate for a 20 minute in town trip, or even suburban trip.

As for directions, sometimes they are a bit odd, taking routes that I would never choose on my own, and that are not necessarily fastest. The time differential is small, but my own route choice is usually a bit faster. This is only an occassional thing, and it happens with the online mapping as well (Mapquest, Google Maps, etc). You can't expect any system to always give the fastest directions.

The most problematic issue is the power cord. The design of the end is poor, with a plastic disc that sticks out. Ours just broke after just 3 months of use. Also the power cord is proprietary, rather than using a usb or mini usb connector. This may be to keep people from frying there Nuvi's with too much juice, but it means we now have to search for a power cord at the last minute before a trip. I'm hoping they warrantee the part, but that still won't get it to us quickly enough.

Great screen4
This is my 3rd Garmin GPS and each time I purchase a new one I'm amazed with the new features.

I purchased this mainly for the large screen and the traffic. I reside in central NJ and the traffic response has not been that good. I hope they improve on this because I could have saved over $100 without it. The overall speed of the GPS has improved where you receive ample time before you have to make a turn and when it recalculates. An impressive function is a speed limit display of the road you are on. When you are driving on major roads it displays the posted speed limit. This is especially important when the speed limit drops from say 65 to 55. The unit is "smart" enough to know this change. I have used the GPS to "speak" using my car stereo. At times it may be difficult finding a clear station but it is still better than the small speaker that comes with the unit. There is a memory slot (memory sold separate) on the GPS and on it you can upload MP3s and pictures which I did not do. With the MP3s you can listen to them over your car stereo after setting up a clear channel. The unit is so thin you can carry it with you. A woman can easily put the GPS in a purse or pocketbook. Continuing on that point, there is an excellent pedestrian mode where you can walk and the GPS will guide you. Perfect if in the city and you lose track where you are. It also has a bike mode when you are riding a bike. I recommend purchasing a base for the GPS instead of placing it on the windshield so it does not block your vision. I also purchased a holder on eBay to protect it.
